DUTIES:

In Fall and Spring Contract periods, the CWG is led by two Consent Chairs (CCs). The CCs head efforts to create educational content to prevent violence and harm in the BSC through the creation and implementation of consent content. Together, the Chairs recruit, hire, periodically train, and coordinate a group of up to 8 student facilitators who facilitate workshops throughout the BSC. This group of students and the CCs create the Consent Working Group (CWG) which meets through the Summer/Fall/Spring to create educational content and other resources for the wider BSC.

One Chair is designated as External Chair (EC). The EC coordinates workshop scheduling, contacting all house presidents, finding 2 facilitators for each workshop, and conducting a follow-up with house presidents after workshops to ensure the unit’s needs were met. The EC also connects the CWG with UC Berkeley anti-sexual violence efforts, acting as a liaison between the BSC and UC Berkeley community. This involves chairing boards such as the Coordinated Community Response Team and the UC Berkeley PATH to Care Student Advisory Board among others. The EC is also responsible for scheduling regular meetings with the Central Office CWG Supervisor.

The second Chair is designated as the Internal Chair (IC). The IC is responsible for scheduling the facilitator trainings, booking contractors (such as PATH to Care, the Family Violence Law Center, etc.) for facilitator trainings (at the beginning of each contract period and, if necessary, at a later point), organizing one to three rounds of conversational check-ins with each facilitator (about their experience in the group generally and facilitating workshops specifically), monitoring the workshop feedback form and organizing frequent conversations amongst the group geared toward improving existing as well as creating new curriculum. In the Summer contract period, the CWG is led by one Chair who takes on both internal and external roles.
